My teaching method based on the needs of the student. I normally use methods such as Alfred, Faber, Bastien, and Piano Adventures. I teach classical music and many other different styles of music, including jazz, blues, rock and roll and pop.
I will take students as young as 5 years old, but not younger, and there is no upper limit. I teach children only if they are ready for lessons and able to pay attention to the concepts. In order to be ready for lessons, the student needs to know and recognize the letters of the alphabet from A-G, forward and backward.
Our lessons combine a friendly, approachable manner with an involved, caring attitude. I have been told that I have a lot of patience, and that I really take the time to teach the students the basics of piano playing. I do this in order to lay a solid foundation upon which you can build. My teaching speed will be consistent with your ability to absorb and master new material.
-I start with teaching the basics of reading music.
-As the student progresses, I introduce the blues, jazz, classical, and pop.
-I also help my students with sight-reading.
-In addition to reading music, I also promote learning by ear and sometimes "show" them how to play pieces without music.
-The Theory of Music: chords, chord progressions, patterns in music
-My #1 goal with a student is to customize lessons to their needs and wants. I never force a student to learn something they don't like. I realize that many students take lessons for fun. Whether the goal is to have fun learning piano or to seriously study piano, I always approach lessons in a fun and exciting manner to encourage and inspire the student to play.
